Proceedings of Workshop on Policies to Promote Energy Efficiency in Transport (WPPEET)
On March 24 and 25, 2009, the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) hosted a Workshop on Policies to Promote Energy Efficiency in Transport at the APEC Secretariat in Singapore.

The workshop, which was organized by the Alliance to Save Energy, brought together experts from numerous APEC economies and included representatives from academia, industry, government and NGOs in discussions of energy efficiency policy for both vehicles and transport systems.

The workshop was divided into a Vehicle Track and a Transport Track, which ran concurrently and featured three panels each. Each panel allowed for lively discussion after speaker presentations, which facilitated constructive brainstorming among the diverse participants about what APEC can do regarding transportation, energy, and climate change. At the closing plenary, the group came together to draft a list of recommended action items on transportation policy for consideration by the APEC Energy Working Group. Over the coming weeks and months, the Alliance will be finalizing these recommendations and updating the 2008 Survey of Policies that Promote Energy Efficiency in Transport in APEC Economies with case studies and best practices discussed at the workshop. The Alliance to Save Energy would like to thank all those who attended for their valuable input and active participation which made WPPEET a success.
